Applications are now open for Start Cup Toscana 2025, the competition for innovative, high-tech business projects.

Applications are now open for the Start Cup Toscana 2025 Award, the competition that rewards the best high-tech entrepreneurial ideas from the world of research. The Start Cup Toscana 2025 is organised by the University of Pisa in collaboration with the other tuscany universities ((Università degli Studi di Firenze, Università di Siena, Università per Stranieri di Siena, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Scuola IMT Alti Studi Lucca e Scuola Normale Superiore) and the Regional Technology Transfer Office of the Tuscany Region. The Award is financed and sponsored by the Tuscany Region and is part of Giovanisì, the regional project for the autonomy of young people.
The Award targets individuals who have developed entrepreneurial ideas based on scientific, technological, social and humanistic research activities and on the knowledge acquired during their
studies or research pathway and who aspire establish a company or have established a company, or started its activities, on or after 1 October 2024.
Entrepreneurial projects must be in one of the following technological fields: Life Sciences-Medtech, ICT, Cleantech & Energy, Industrial.
Applications are open until 10 September 2025.
The selected business projects will be presented by the proposing groups with an elevator pitch at the Start Cup Toscana final event to be held on 23 October at the University of Pisa. The top three business projects will receive a prize in cash and will participate by right in the National Prize for Innovation PNI 2025, the Italian competition that awards prizes to the best business projects with high innovative content born within the university environment, which will be held in Ferrara on 4 and 5 December 2025.
